Automotive Key Technician

Dent Wizard is recognized as one of the largest service providers in automotive lock & transponder systems. We employ a substantial number of technicians across the country at the largest Auto Auction sites performing services ranging from copying and making keys to providing complete transponder systems.

Many new cars today have computerized transponder systems that need to be programmed. Our technicians receive all the tools and supplies for the job along with advanced training to provide any services necessary to secure and access any vehicle.

Unlike other companies Dent Wizard fully equips Key Technicians with the most current tools and supplies necessary to complete the job. While we do not provide basic training for individuals looking to get into the industry we have a strong system of on-the-job and advanced training techniques as well as access to some of the most experienced individuals in the industry.


  • Minimum of 2 years previous Automotive Locksmith experience required 
  • Strong mechanical skills, Excellent vision, and a working knowledge of computers is required for individuals to be successful
  • Qualified candidates must be able to pass a criminal background screening and DMV record 
  • Person needs to be responsible, reliable and able to work without constant supervision

Application Process

Start by completing an on-line application. One of our recruiters or local managers will contact you for a brief phone interview.

We then ask candidates to come to one of our nearby operations for a more in-depth personal interview. We also ask that candidates for Key Technicians provide either a work demonstration to show their knowledge and ability or equivalent references that can be verified to demonstrate technical capabilities.

Finally, if offered a position, you will be asked to complete a background check (criminal and driving) and a pre-employment drug screen.

Paint Techs typically have some background in paint or body repairs prior to working for Dent Wizard. We provide all the tools and equipment necessary to repair scuff, scrape and abrasion damage to bumpers and bumper covers and provide automotive technician training for new techs.
